Abstract
Whether or not to resume sexual activity after a myocardial infarction is a question for which women, especially, often fail to receive appropriate counseling. The critical care nurse is in a position to determine if #x201D;potential sexual dysfunction” is a nursing diagnosis for the postmyocardial infarction patient. This article provides guidelines to help the cardiac critical care nurse, in both acute and rehabilitation settings, to work with these women to incorporate sexual counseling into patient teaching.
