Abstract
Asthma has been recognized as an inflammatory disease. Multiple relevant allergic triggers are described that can perpetuate the inflammatory response. The effects of allergen exposure on the cellular and soluble mediators of inflammatory asthma are presented. The implications of these findings on pharmacotherapy and immunotherapy of allergic asthma are discussed.
