Gain-bandwidth product of a VCSEL amplifier

Abstract

An analytical expression is presented for the gain-bandwidth product of a vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) amplifier, which predicts gain-bandwidth products of up to 80 GHz. Gain measurements and bandwidth are carried out to test the validity of the theoretical predictions.
