Abstract
The technique of thyroidectomy is covered in detail in various textbooks and surgical atlases. The aim of this article is not to recount the details of the surgical procedure, but rather to emphasize important, pertinent surgical anatomy and discuss the management of various difficult situations and operative challenges that the thyroid surgeon may encounter from time to time.
