Abstract

This article is a review of allergic disease in the elderly. As a means of introduction, the cause and demographics of aging is reviewed. Physiologic changes of aging that may impact allergic disease are detailed. Since the immune response is central to most disease processes, the immunology of aging is highlighted. General recommendations in the care of the aging patient with allergic disease are presented.
