Abstract

This chapter discusses von Willebrand disease–the most common inherited bleeding disorder. It discusses the classification of the disease and diagnostic issues. The chapter discusses treatment by different subtypes and the use of desmopressin or the concentrate Humate–P. Von Willebrand disease (vWD) is the most common inherited bleeding disorder. Despite its relatively high prevalence, many features of the disease have only recently been clarified.
