Abstract

A small optical probe has been designed to measure the optical properties of prostate. The probe is composed of two 600 μm diameter optical fibers, one of which is the source and the other is the detector. For multi-wavelength analysis, a white light source and optical multichannel analyzer (OMA) were used. The collected white light spectrum was analyzed with an OMA system and the data was processed with a curve fitting routine. The probe was inserted through a cystoscope which is inside the canine and human prostates. Preliminary results from both prostate specimens are presented.
