Abstract

The effect of the support on the heterogeneously catalysed substitution on symmetrical and unsymmetrical substituted allylic species was investigated. The influence of the support on the reaction rate and the regiochemistry of the reaction shows that heterogeneous catalysts may be viable alternatives to the commonly used homogeneous catalytic species. A correlation between turnover frequencies of reactions run over a series of Pd/SiO2 catalysts and their STO determined site densities showed that the reaction was taking place on the more coordinately unsaturated corner atoms or adatoms.
