Oxygen transport: Lungs to tissue

P. Thorborg, N. Lund

Research output: Contribution to journalReview articlepeer-review

Abstract

This article considers information about peripheral vascular regulatory mechanisms obtained during the past decade, therefore classic physiology is not included. The interactions between tissue factors, the metabolic function of the lungs, and vasoactive substances produced by the blood platelets are emphasized. These complex systems and their interactions have profound effects on modern therapy of many different disease entities, some of which are discussed.
