Abstract

The orientation specificity of the receptive fields of single neurons in primary visual cortex of the cat varied as a function of sustained head tilt in a sample of 33 cells. The types of variation suggested analogies to certain psychophysical phenomena. Orientation specificity of visual cortical cells may in part be determined by information from non-visual afferent systems.
