Abstract
This article reviews managemnet of early laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma with respect to current standards of pratice and recent advances in minimally invasive endoscopic surgery, specifically highlighting powered instrumentation as an alternative to transoral laser resection of early glottic lesions. Limitations of the current staging system, controversy regarding management of lesions involving the anterior commissure, and the role of radiation therapy versus surgical management are also discussed with reference to current outcomes literature.
