Abstract

The mechanical stretch of cultured neurons and relationship between acute cytosolic calcium changes and cell death was studied. The magnitude of the stretch was controlled by the magnitude of applied pressure. The study shoed that the cytosolic calcium in cultured hippocampal neurons respond to stretch in a dose-response fashion.
