Abstract

A VCSEL is proposed as a low-voltage (∼50mV dynamic swing), low noise (>15dB SNR), high contrast-ratio (∼50:1) spatial light modulator with gain. The steady-state gain, gain-bandwidth product, signal-to-noise ratio, and spectral bandwidth are reported.
