Abstract

Various room-temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) were prepared and investigated in the enzymatic resolution reactions for obtaining enantiopure amino acids. RTILs can boost the enantioselectivity of enzymes when an appropriate concentration of ionic liquid is used. The preliminary results from this study indicate that ionic liquids are suitable alternative media over organic solvents for achieving high enantiopurity of amino acids.
