Abstract

Using the Plan-Do-Act-Study cycle, authors examined how current fall prevention protocol recommendations were applied to Veteran inpatient practices to identify opportunities for improvement. Data collection included patient interviews, observations of patients’ rooms, and chart reviews. The gap analysis contributed to practice changes related to patient education, patient environment, and application of nursing protocols.
