title = "Electrophoretically actuated nanoscale optoentropic transduction mechanisms",
abstract = "We have shown that DNA assembled fluorescent resonant energy transfer systems oscillate in response to electrophoretic actuation in an acrylamide model of in situ hybridization. Integration of fluorescence over time produced clear peaks in Fourier space with signal to noise ratios far above static levels. Frequency responses were demonstrated between 5 Hz to 10 Hz. Actuation speed was likely limited by the ionic flux under low field strength of the relatively macroscale system. The ability to pull signals out of a high background of autofluorescence has important implications for improving the resolution of FISH, and in particular using oligonucleotide probes for the analysis of early stage genetic transitions from hyperplasia to carcinoma.",
