N2 - When the efflux of 3H-GABA and 14C-glutamate was maximally stimulated by exchange diffusion with unlabeled amino acids, electrical stimulation was incapable of producing further release. This suggests carrier mediated membrane transport may be a limiting factor in the release of amino acid neurotransmitters from brain slices.
