Abstract

Plasma levels of MSH, ACTH, and cortisol were measured in three men pretreated with dexamethasone before undergoing surgical operations for fusion of cervical vertebrae. In each case increased plasma levels of MSH were found which were not associated with increased plasma levels of ACTH or cortisol. The results demonstrate that MSH and ACTH secretion do not always occur in parallel.
