Abstract

Many of the children in early intervention services have an identifiable disorder of brain development. This article reviews normal and abnormal brain development and highlights the necessity for early intervention professionals to understand each child’s medical diagnosis in order to formulate appropriate service plans and to have realistic expectations for developmental progress.
