Abstract
The effect of one DST on donor-specific cytotoxic antibody production, antilymphocyte panel antibody production, early rejection crisis, one-HLRD first-kidney transplant survival, and serum creatinine levels in 29 consecutive patients was compared with a similar consecutive series of 18 patients who received three DSTs. Twenty-one of the one-DST protocol patients and 16 of the three-DST protocol patients received kidney transplants from their one-HLRD. There were no significant differences in any of the parameters. The one-DST protocol was as successful as the three-DST protocol in preparing recipients for one-HLRD kidney transplantation.
