Abstract

Neurofilament proteins were analyzed using MALDI-TOF and ESI-MS/MS. Digests were analyzed by LC-ESI mass spectrometry combined with database searching. Sixteen serine and ten threonine phosphorylation sites are located within the C-terminal tail domain of NF-M. Six phosphorylation sites, Ser-136, 196, 230, 242, and Thr-44, 139 are present in the rod domain of NF-M.
