Abstract

We propose an interim classification of neurotoxic substances based on their cellular and sub-cellular targets in the nervous system. These sites are: The neuron (including excitable membrane, transmitter systems, and structural integrity), glial cells and myelin, nervous system vasculature, and muscle.
